The sounds were great - enjoyed every cut on the CD
While I'm not a die-hard jazz fan (I like all types of music), this CD was a treat from start to finish. The selection of songs was varied, but all were candy for the ears. Very talented musicians - did you hear how long that sax note held?

AMAZING MUSIC...and legendary musicians!!!!
If you like good music...sweet soul music, get this CD. There's no question in my mind that this band shouldn't be a national touring band doing all the major festivals and clubs.
The musicianship on this band is of the highest calibur. Everyone's a leader. But the cool thing also is everyone knows how to play as a band member and groove. Which makes it so much fun to listen to whether you're just listening or going for deep musical spirituality. The music is wide ranging and engaging and gracefully entertaining.
One of the assets of this band is a life long saxophone hero of mine named David Woodford. To set the record straight, back in 1969 in Boston this sax master was taking care of serious business. This is before Brecker, Sanborn, and a host of other household names became popular. My point is Woodford was already forging in stone the history and definition of modern day saxophone in this kind of groove. His sound and soul rank right up there with King Curtis, Sam the Man Taylor, Red Prysock, and Jr. Walker. He was playing the style that many people are trying to point to a good two and a half decades before anybody, and you can tell from my words he was doing it in style and also adding a huge dose of originality to this genre.
As you can tell I've totally enjoyed his playing for over thirty years.
To make a long story short each member of the band stands on common ground with each other so the same thing can be said about every other member as I said about Woodford. If you listen to this CD you'll realize good music sells and at the same time can be entertaining as well as soul satisfying. I suggest not only do you buy this CD but you tell every one of your friends about it.
Without question some of the best music being played today.

Great Live CD!
This cd is comfortable, smooth and relaxing. Being that the music industry is struggling at this time, this cd bring me to my safe spot. Thank you SONO for your dedication to the art and continue to keep up the amazing work.....

This is a must have CD for jazz lovers!
Soul Serenade is worth the price of the entire CD by itself! This album really gave me goosebumps. The band plays very "together" and each player has a great individual sound. I especially liked the tenor sax and the drummer. It all makes for great ensemble. This will be a favorite of mine for a very long time.

Sounds of New Orleans - sounds like a party to me!
Classic songs played by musicians with stellar skills - a CD that reaches out to anyone and everyone who loves good music. The down home feeling of N'Awlins that makes you want to get up and dance is evident on every song. And for listeners who appreciate real professional musicianship this CD satisfies on all levels - killer players that know how to flex their muscles without overpowering the material. These guys have played this music with the legends that made it an integral part of the fabric of American music. Their respect and love of this music shines through on every track - put this one in your shopping cart right now and while you're at it get a couple extra copies for your friends!

A smooth blend of basic jazz elements that makes me happy.
Well, it's not R&B, or strictly pop. And it's not Reggae or Blues or... but why dwell on what it's not? It IS a very cool mix of cuts, rooted firmly in jazz, while smoothly blending together all the above elements into a unique and satisfying musical experience. I will travel with this music. I will live with this music. I will share this music. Above all, I enjoy this music and I believe others will, too.

I'm afraid my wife Adria and I are a little bias. We've known Woody for a while and are extremley pleased with what we hear. We love "Jazz and Blues" and as far as we're concerened you have struck the perverbial golden cord.

This is a keeper for us and we hope there's more to come. We're in Orlando, FL and I'm originally from LA, so we will see you at Downtown Disney.

Bob & Adria Smith...loved the Gershwin number!!!

In Tradition With N'Awlins Funky Jazz And Soulful Blues
The pianist and saxophonist stole my soul!!! What a GREAT sound. This is how it's supposed to be; upbeat, funky and filled with soul, with a distinct respect to the great artists that wrote the songs on this compilation and made them famous. I thoroughly enjoyed the previews, and I can't wait to get the CD!

if you dig the heat of new orleans, this album is for you.
a party-mix from jazz-blues-funk-soul in a special gumbo style.think dr. john, neveille bros, and the old traditional jazz, and you have this splented group of musicians with frontman kenneth sara.
this album includes wellknown songs, but they all sound different and allways with the right touch.
gershwins summertime is blended in a very special flavour with some great sax plaiing. soul seranade, a king curtis tune is fantastic, and one of my highlights.
if you want to have a party, this is a musthave--- new orleans is hot hot hot, thanks guys.

It SWINGS hard. Got to get it fast!!!!
I have followed Mr. Sara through his previous projects and engagements. I must say that he is one of the most gifted, creative, a well respected celebrated leader, percussionist, arranger, and vocalist that I have ever run across in the industry. A hard working leader in is own right, he is consistantly pushing the music through new frontiers and is constantly keeping the music fresh and exciting. He and his band swings hard, so hard that you need to get up and dance! Fun and exciting, lively and tasteful. The selections seemed to be carefully thought out and hand picked to give the CD good musical balance for the listening ear. The musicianship is very professional and well chosen to form this hot musical group! A must for all listeners. Especially those interested in expanding their musical tastes. This band swings and swings hard!!! Get out and get two. Keep one and give one away! You won't be disappointed!
