Album Notes
Key to Chaos has performed at a handful of vintage Los Angeles nightclubs, including the Whisky a Go Go and The Viper Room on the world-famous Sunset Strip. In August 2013, they released their debut 5-song EP, titled “Five Second Decision”. Taken from that EP, they released their first professionally recorded single, “Lonely World” in June 2012 and their second shortly after. The band received their first radio play on KROQ 106.7 in June 2012 for the “Your Shot to Rock” contest, in which they placed within the top 10 out of well over 250 bands. In August 2011, they were invited to play as part of the Sunset Strip Music Festival at the world-famous Whisky a Go-Go. Their first show was at The Viper Room on 3/19/11, and they have played many other shows in the LA and Long Beach area.

The band members roots extend to the Midwest, where most of the members grew up. Zach Hansen (vox) grew up near Cleveland, OH, Eric Rounsville (lead guitar) and Matt Maki (rhythm guitar) both grew up near Minneapolis, MN.

Ironically, Eric and Zach moved to So Cal within 10 days of each other in April 2009 and started practicing music together. Soon after, Matt Maki moved out to join the band, but Chaos ensued. In an accident sometime in late December 2009, Matt broke his neck while snowboarding and was hospitalized and nearly paralyzed. He had the will to pull through, and the rest of the band members were willing to wait for him to heal. He went back to Minnesota to heal until his grand return, which was around November 2010.

Eric and Zach stayed in LA and worked on new music while Matt was away. They were able to record a few songs before he returned, including “Five Second Decision”, “Success”, and “Ecstasy”. These 3 songs together made up the band's first 3-Song EP, which was self produced and recorded, then released in January 2011.

Key to Chaos' music is reminiscent of similar artists in the alternative-metal genre, and shares influences from bands such as Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold, Days of the New, Incubus, 311, Godsmack, Shinedown, and many others. Their sound is heavy, alternative-metal.

Key to Chaos released their first professionally recorded single, "Lonely World", on May 11, 2012.
Key to Chaos released their second professionally recorded single, "Outta Mind", on June 20, 2012.
Key to Chaos will release their debut EP, “Five Second Decision”, on August 27th, 2013.

My kind of music!!
I may be old but I never get tired of listening to good hard rocking music. From the lyrics to the musicians they have what it takes. I look forward to hearing more from them.

Even if you guys werent people I knew, this would be a 5 star from me. Perfectly made original rock music. The song Five Second Decision will always have a huge place in my heart even since the first recording I ever heard of it because I know who and what its about. Love you Matt youll be my boy forever. As for Key To Chaos as a whole. Keep up the work. I promise it will pay off in the long run.
