****************

Following the success of their debut album "Ordinary Man (Adameh Mamooli)", Kiosk, the Iranian Underground Rock Band returns with their second album to date, again taking aim at superficial and hypocritical trends in society, the ever increasing economic gap, and everything else that is politcally and socially wrong.

The lyrics to the title track "Eshghe Sorat (amor de la velocidad)" are a laundry list of oxymorons and paradoxes that have now become the norm of everyday life in Tehran.

On the track "Bitarbiat", Kiosk borrows from the great Chet Atkins on "Read My Licks", and substitutes music notes in place of otherwise obvious slang expressions widely used in the Persian language, while at the same time making a powerful statement against biased censorship in the media worldwide.

Of particular interest to lovers of Persian Pop culture is the track "Amoo Asdollah", where the lyrics are all based on the dialogue of the timeless Persian literary classic "Daee Jan Napoleon"( My Uncle Napoleon) by Iraj Pezeshkzad. The song was created as a tribute to this cultural phenomenon.

At last.....
At last.....what a fantastic & refreshing album. Such talented boys. I left Iran way back in 75 & for years have wondered why our music need to be so depressing!! its in the genes I guess....But now, with such ironis, melodic, dry & witty sense of humour Kiost have restored my faith in persian music! lyrically wild, funnyly sad, sadly true, & truly great & direct lyrics with great instrumentation, its the best thing i have heard in many many years. if you hear it & dont agree, then you must either be dead or mad!! to quote the late Frank Zappa: Music is the best! Rock on boys.....rock on!

Excellent Modern Persian Music
I was born in Iran, but moved to America as a baby. As such, I haven't been fully connected to my roots. This CD is especially inspiring to me because it speaks my language. I understand Persian well, but most Persian music doesn't do much for me. This music kicks ass, and gives me a way to connect to my heritage. Very creative lyrics and great song writing.

Eshghe Sorat (amor de la velocidad)
I really liked it.

Dire Straits meets Bob Dylan,,,, Persian version, absolutely brilliant
This is an instant classic. Masterful lyrics, profound poetry over true blues. Its Mark Knopfler and Bob Dylan if they were raised in Iran in the last 20 years. Thank you, Kiosk, thank you very very much indeed.

armin

fantastic!

Amir Talai

Excellent, like a Persian Mark Knopler
This CD is excellent. These songs reflect his growing up in the states with an eclectic mix of rock/blues and persian style.
