Album Notes
It’s not uncommon to hear good Irish, Indian, or Peruvian world music albums. But a Japanese world music CD that can satisfy the ears of electronic dance music fans? Well, this just might be the one. A New York based visual / sound unit KISHOTEN fuses the sounds of Japanese folk music (Minyou) and festival music (Matsuribayashi) with electronic house, techno, and drum’n’bass beats, house, techno, and drum’n’bass beats. Actually add Jazz, progressive rock, and minimal music to that list. “Our goal is to bring Japanese music (Minyou and Matsuribayashi) to dance floors,” said Michiro Negishi. “We want people to realize how refreshing and exciting dancing to traditional Japanese music can be, as I discovered only recently myself!”
