Mankato, July 7, 2012: Kris Keltgen, band leader of the Riverbend Dutchmen Band from Mankato, Minnesota announces the release of the band's first music album entitled: Smile. The Smile album includes 19 popular polka's, waltzes, and country tunes, with nearly one hour of music. The Smile album includes two concertina duets featuring Kris Keltgen and famous concertina artist Karl Hartwich of Trempealeau, Wisconsin. Also included in the Smile album is the first ever public release of the "Jeffers Polka", written by Kris Keltgen in 2010. The Smile album was recorded by Flying Dutchman Recordings of Trempealeau, Wisconsin, and mastered by JBM Sound of New Prague, Minnesota. The Smile album was produced by Kris Keltgen.
The Riverbend Dutchmen Band is a traditional, New Ulm Style, polka band formed by Kris Keltgen in 2009. The Riverbend Dutchmen Band is Mankato's only active old-time music band playing at locations across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Kris and the Riverbend Dutchmen play an energetic style of traditional old-time music that is enjoyed by both young and old alike. Influences for the band include: Karl and the Country Dutchmen, Gary's Ridgeland Dutchmen, The Rainbow Valley Dutchmen, the late Elmer Sheid, and the late Ernie Coopman.
