Album Notes
It’s getting close to six years since the Finnish band kumina.org released it’s critically acclaimed debut album “Entropia” (available on iTunes and CD Baby and many other online music stores). The band was forced out of active duty because of members moving to different locations. But the passion to continue with the great chemistry between the members making boundless music never died. So, one night in June 2014 we got together for a three hour jam session, highlights of which are compiled on this one hour download-only album titled #euphoria.

While we never totally depart from our roots in fusion and prog, this album is a tribute to modern open-minded and genre-defying jam bands such as MMW, Rudder, Project Z, Soulive and the various Crimson ProjeKCts. Our particular flavour of jamming has firm roots in funky grooves combined with different ethnic influences. As long as the listener’s foot starts tapping, we are happy!

Current Lineup

Ahmed Ahonen on keyboards is known from some of the most relevant current Finnish prog acts such as Kuha. and Discordia. Sceletons in his closet also include a stint with metal virtuoso band J. Hiltunen's Wings of Destiny. Avid fan of Deep Purple, Ahmed is turned on by roaring hammonds, yet at the same time he is also known some of the most insane sounds ever produced in front of a public.

Matti Kanerva on drums and occasional “oh yeahs” is known for his relentless grooving, Kanerva is a familiar name in the Finnish jazz scene. His musical heroes include Tony Williams, Steve Gadd, David Garibaldi on all the other usual suspects. Matti is also the drummer of Trout Qt and a frequent collaborator of Jani Malmi and other front runners in the jamming scene.

Jari Kokkonen on bass is one of the foremost bass players in the modern Finnish jazz and groove scene. Having made an internationally acknowledged career with bands such as Rinneradio, Wimme and Jani Malmi group, he is also a long-time collaborator of Kanerva and best known from his intense presence and wild soloing

Jukka Packalen on guitars, additional synths, loops and studio production is a Berklee certified studio professional and guitarist with a passion for eclectic fusion and Carnatic (South-Indian classical) music. He has played in bands for decades and currently is the guitarist of Trout Qt, a fusion band also including Kanerva and Kokkonen. He is also collaborating with various Indian artists and is also known as a guitar and improvisation teacher.

All of the tunes on this album are composed by kumina.org. Recording by Jukka Packalen and Virpi Blom. Studio production by Jukka Packalen. Produced and published by kumina.org.
