ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Fresh from taking the 2010 Brisbane Cabaret Festival by storm, LAIQUE has been brewing up a temptatious teacup of an Album filled to the brim with toe tapping tunes both quirky and charming. Drawing on influences from 1930’s paris jazz and the flamenco music of Spain, topped off with a good dose of solid songwriting, this band will delight and tickle you in all the right places.

“Steeped in a sizzle of hot swing, there's a twist of mischievous charm beneath the band's sharp trouser legs and front-woman Kylie Southwell's slick heels as the hard-popping bedlam begins. This is wine without the glass and murder without the guilt. This is song writing without the diarising. The swinging twenties without prohibition. The lust without the phone numbers. This is Laique - one frock and four suits. French manouche, street beats and tango all fall in line behind one stray black cat”.

Presenting Laique's queen of song Kylie Southwell, along with premium music-men Gerard Mapstone on guitar & banjo, Michael Patterson on violin, Samuel Vincent on double bass and Will Eager on drums. Gentlemen hold on to your Stetsons, ladies clasp your fascinators! For Laique will fill your Martini glass to the brim with their quirky tunes and tempestuous tales of Love, Lust, Murder, Revenge and Shoes.

2010 Highlights: Brisbane Cabaret Festival, Judith Wright Centre Theatre
QLD Multicultural Festival, Amphitheatre Roma St Parklands.
Powerhouse Planet Seriers, Turbine Platform

Upcoming - 2010 Woodford Folk Festival, 3 shows.

QSong finalists for ‘The End of the Day”
QSong Highly Commended for “Reverie”, “The Boat Song” and “What I Got Here”.

Just the right Brew!
This is great music! I wish I could have more of it. The Album only has 9 songs, but the songs are pretty long, so it does feel like a full album. I really like playing this to friends or guests when they come over as it little bit different and imaginative, has some great feels and rhythms and makes everyone feel happy! My favourite song is 'the end of the day' but I also really like 'Reverie' and 'What i got here', very cute! Thanks for the music :)

Swinging!
I've been enjoying this album for a couple of months now. Excellent musicianship, and most of all, really fun music. Thanks chaps!
