ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
La Petite Manouche are excited to present to you our second studio album Odd Times, Odd Places, a step towards modern jazz from our first album Legacy which focussed more on a traditional gypsy jazz sound. Odd Times, Odd Places includes original compositions with odd time signatures, exciting arrangements of standard and traditional tunes, and exhibits our playing style in as it is in 2013.

Robbie Averill and Burke Goffe have been performing together under La Petite Manouche since 2008. Their mutual interest in gypsy jazz was realised in a dark, smoky inner-city Christchurch bar early on a Sunday morning, and since then has taken them all over New Zealand and Australia. Their music is listened to by jazz, folk, classical and world enthusiasts all around the world.

We are joined on this record by the wonderful violinist Fiona Pears following a successful New Zealand tour in 2012, and percussionist Tim Sellars, a great friend of ours who we managed to get into the studio in between his cruise ship circuit and Christchurch projects.
