Last Chance Dave is hell-bent on writing/playing great rock and alt-country. All the energy of this Louisiana four-piece can be heard on their records and at their emphatic live performances.
"We just want to create honest and catchy songs," says singer/songwriter David Brooks. The collective efforts by the band to maintain quality songwriting has come through on their full-length debut, Chin Up. Lead guitarist Kyle Harvey adds, "The songs on this album help to really define our nature as songwriters. You can find all types of songs here. Almost no stone was left unturned in the creation of Chin Up." This statement is very apparent in the chameleon-like way the album easily transforms from genre to genre. "We wanted to make a rock album, a pop album, an alt-country album...so we finally decided to make one that would accomplish all of that," explains drummer Drew Greene.
Often times a group struggles to retain its identity after a member moves on, but LCD made the decision to not allow such obstacles to impede their growth. They continued to steadily gig after former guitarist, Seth Woodard, left to pursue another career. They wrote fresh material even as new bassist, Nick Buttita, was still learning the band's back catalogue of more than 60 songs. What has formed is a more cohesive unit, one that is more focused than ever on writing, performing, and recording. Last Chance Dave could find a home on commercial radio or on the Indie scene, but ultimately the listener must decide how they wish classify this talented group. Fans of Rock, Pop, Alternative, and Alt-country need look no further. This band can deliver on all levels and leave you wanting more. Good music shouldn't be passed up, so check them out!
