Album Notes
In an industry where originality and creativity are declining, Layden bridges the gap between several different genres of music while providing an entertaining and explosive live show. With a passion to change such a negative society, their positive lyrics allow people to experience the impact Christ’s love can have on them. Keyboardist and lead singer/songwriter Tyler Ricketts and drummer Tyler Biggs attended the same school growing up. Although four years difference between the two, they realized they had the same enthusiasm to pursue music while leaving an impact on an unambitious world. Meanwhile, electric guitarist Josh Mitchell was searching for avenues to chase his calling as well. Through different acquaintances, he joined forces with Tyler and Tyler. Mitchell’s ingenuity with his moving guitar lines deemed to be the missing piece for the group, and thus the band was formed. The name Layden derives from the word “laden” which means “burden” or “oppressed by something.” The spelling has the word “lay” in it meaning “to dispose of” in reference to any struggles or hardships someone may be going through. It is the band’s desire that through their music people may come to lay down their burdens.
