ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lee Zimmer is a virtuoso performer who has delighted audiences with his elegance and sense of musicality both as a soloist and ensemble player. Performing and teaching guitar for most of his life, he is an adjunct professor of guitar studies at both La Sierra and California Baptist Universities. Lee also is music department chairperson for the Fender Center’s Kids Rock Free program, where he developed the current curriculum for guitar, bass, and band studies.

Mr. Zimmer studied classical guitar for several years with Maestro Seiko Sesoko. Along with that, he has performed in Master classes with Manuel Barrueco, Sharon Isben, David Russell, Michael Newman, and Jorge Morel. As well as performing and teaching, Lee has arranged music for one, two, and four guitars. His arrangement for two guitars of Le Tombeau de Couperin, by Maurice Ravel, is featured on a CD that he recorded along with guitarist Eric Brenton as Duo Sesoko, a premier guitar ensemble.

Since 1985, Lee has been on the board of directors for the Orange County Guitar Circle, a guitar society that has been in existence for over 30 years. He was the president of the organization from 1996 to 2005.

For this cd, Lee has recorded some of the finest music in the guitar repertoire. The title, encarnacion, was chosen to signify the bringing to life of this music. The goal of the musician is to create a breathing life entity from the notes that make up the music. Hopefully, those that listen to this will feel that coming through.

These are wonderful selections placed in a well-thought order. The pieces are played in such a moving and elegant manner that I constantly reach for the CD just to feel good after a rough day.

Absolutely Delightful
The pieces on this CD are absolutely beautiful, and include some familiar selections from Spanish guitar music. The quality of the performance will equally delight a serious listener focusing on the intricate phrasing, as well as a more casual listener who just wants to be enchanted. My personal favorite was Prelude in E.

Wonderful!!
Mr. Zimmer's playing is beautiful! The selections are some of the more traditional works in the guitar repertoire, but they are done here with a certain perfection only found in world class performers.
I highly recommend it!
