Legions of Hoar Frost have done it again!
I awarded “Bringers of the Black Flame” an impressive 98% in September and I still hold the album in very high regard (in fact, it’s on my iPod several times per week). So it’s fair to say that I had high hopes for this EP. The trouble with releasing such a killer album is that the band will now have to continually put out amazing stuff. Sorry guys!

A couple of days before “Blight” went on sale, it was made available for streaming on YouTube. As soon as I saw the link to this on Facebook, I clicked on it and did the online equivalent of racing over to listen to it. Luckily, it was awesome. If anything, Legions of Hoar Frost have IMPROVED since “Bringers of the Black Flame”. I don’t know that’s possible, but somehow they’ve achieved it. They’ve grabbed Black Metal by the balls and made it their bitch. Legions of Hoar Frost, I salute you!

The EP opens with “A Seed from Which Nothing Grows” – a doom-tinged slab of Black Metal. The track has a dominating and commanding presence and immediately sets the tone for the EP. It wasn’t as if any of us thought this EP was going to be about rainbows and sunshine, but now we know for sure. Legions of Hoar Frost are taking us on a very dark and tumultuous ride. Next up we have the title track. This track continues along with the same kind of theme, but this time there’s a threat of violence lurking underneath the riffs and vocals. It’s a time bomb waiting to go off. “Our Legacy of Ash” closes this ceremony. This eerie piece really puts your nerves on edge before fading away and leaving you hungry for more.
