Album Notes
Most of this Portuguese Music was written around 1939-1950 by Antonio Lança. One is by João Sousa, one by PPChavi arr. Fernando Maçhdo and one Richard DeFreitas. DeFreitas is the only composer still alive. The National Anthem was written by Alfredo Keil. This recording will preserve this era of Portuguese Music for future generations. The Rhapsodia's are comprised of Folk Music from the different Portuguese Islands. Most of these were from the Açores and a few from Madeira Island.
We invite you to contact me for any other information regarding this project. John Leite Music Director/Conductor.
