ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This was an evening where everything clicked, even the mistakes, before a fine audience. It's a jazz album that takes a lot of left turns into folk music, Charles Ives, a bit of the jazz avant-garde, and the Marx Brothers. Rachel is considered the finest singer in Honolulu, with a rare versatility that is shared by Les and Lou. An understated and occasionally irreverent performance with a few left turns.

Creative and Unusual
The Les Peetz cd is unusual and creative.Lot's of surprises and unexpected twists and turns. There are songs here you would never expect on a jazz cd. "Shenandoah","Guinnevere","The Cage","Lydia The Tattooed Lady" and check out
"When Johnny Comes Marching Home". The jazz standards are here for the straight-ahead group. Highly recommended

Les Peetz Trio
Having enjoyed the Les Peetz trio many times live in concert, I'm very grateful to have this CD, "Songs of Innocence; Songs of Experience," as it captures them at their best live at the Hawaii Public Radio Atherton Performing Arts Studio in January, 2007. The collection of tunes is eclectic, from Crosby, Stills & Nash to Cole Porter to Miles Davis, and the performances by Les Peetz (piano), Rachel Gonzales (vocals), and Lou Benanto (bass), are a treat, and vary from pure instrumental, to pure voice, to a delightful mix. If you've never seen and heard them live, this CD is the next best thing.
