ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Well known locally and abroad as one of the premier jazz saxophonist on the Gulf Coast. He performs on Tenor, Alto, and Soprano Saxophones as well as piano and flute. Genres of music include Standards, Jazz Standards, Swing, Be-Bop, Cool Jazz and the Blues.

Playing professionally for over 50 years, the native Mobilian has backed artists such as Millie Jackson, Redd Foxx, and in concert with Ray Charles. He has recorded with renowned trombonist Fred Westley, the accomplished pianist Roy Merriwether and opened for Lou Rawles, Chemistry and Authur Prysock.

He has also performed for audiences in Baden and Zurich, Switzerland and Yelapa, Mexico. Early in his career he was a member of the United States Air Force Band performing in the United States and Europe. He is also an accomplished producer, arranger, composer, and music instructor (saxophone, flute, clarinet, and piano).

Roy Merriwether is an incredible pianist out of New York and a dear friend of mine. He called me and suggested we do a CD together.

Excited with the idea I started arranging and putting a band together for the recording date.

The recording were live over a period of four days at the Rascal's Lounge in Mobile. My favorite track on this CD is "Tangerine", arranged by the late E.B. Coleman.

Roy and the band are great on this CD.
