ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Well known locally and abroad as one of the premier jazz saxophonist on the Gulf Coast. He performs on Tenor, Alto, and Soprano Saxophones as well as piano and flute. Genres of music include Standards, Jazz Standards, Swing, Be-Bop, Cool Jazz and the Blues.

Playing professionally for over 50 years, the native Mobilian has backed artists such as Millie Jackson, Redd Foxx, and in concert with Ray Charles. He has recorded with renowned trombonist Fred Westley, the accomplished pianist Roy Merriwether and opened for Lou Rawles, Chemistry and Authur Prysock.

He has also performed for audiences in Baden and Zurich, Switzerland and Yelapa, Mexico. Early in his career he was a member of the United States Air Force Band performing in the United States and Europe. He is also an accomplished producer, arranger, composer, and music instructor (saxophone, flute, clarinet, and piano).

This was my first CD and I called Fred Wesley to help me with it. For those of you that don't know, Fred is quite renowned having played with Count Basie, James Brown, Ray Charles, Lou Rawls, and the list goes on.

However, he is a native Mobilian and long before he became famous we played together in and around Mobile. For this CD we had virtually no rehearsals, I used all local musicians, took a deep breath and went into the studio.

My personal favorite tracks on this CD are Fred's composition "In Love in LA" and my composition "Jobop." The whole CD is great easy listening Jazz.
