Nicely Spiced Bowl of Blues Delight
“Chicken Gumbo” by Lex & Joe is a nicely spiced bowl of blues delight. Lyrically clever and witty, this CD has a way of leaving a deeply etched impression. “Memphis Women and Chicken” is a groovy and humorous tune that flaunts some soulful saxophone runs. Moreover, the vocals on this CD deliver the best mix of sass, attitude, and humor. Adding to the diverse nature of this album is the inclusion of some pleasantly redone cover tracks. Furthermore, the musicianship on “Ophelia” really steals the limelight. Wrapped in top notched production, “Chicken Gumbo” is as delicious as it sounds.
