The Lonesome Sisters with Rayna Gellert: Follow Me Down

by The Lonesome Sisters

High lonesome harmonies full of longing, with modal, stark acoustic arrangements of guitar, fretless clawhammer banjo, and fiddle, combine to create an early country/modern mountain old time music sound. Rayna Gellert adds lush fiddle.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Lonesome Sisters' third album, featuring old time fiddler Rayna Gellert from the all-female string band, Uncle Earl, once again delivers the Sister's signature high harmony vocals and modal, Appalachian underpinnings. Recorded by Chad Crumm over a few chilly, winter days at an old farmhouse outside of Ithaca NY, this album captures a fleeting moment in time, a dreamy winter revere under a moody, gray sky.

*** This album's title song, "Follow Me Down", was voted best original song in the Clifftop WV Appalachian Stringband Festival Songwriting Contest.***

Try their music, you'll like it!
The Lonesome sisters are great-the best Old Time music I have heard in a long time. I bought all three of their CD's. I have passed the word to others, who have also bought all their CD's.

A great sound appreciated here in the UK
I first heard the Lonesome Sister's on the BBC Radio 2 Country show hosted by Bob Harris. Bob has done more to bring America's finest music to these shores than anyone in the UK. This album stands as testimony to the quality of his show www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/bobharriscountry/ Fabulous harmonies and music from the heart.

Excellently produced album which highights talents of the Lonesome Sisters. I played it straight through three times and I've shared it with friends. Good range of material with sympathetic arrangements.

Beautiful and Dreamy, Come back to Ohio.
I play this new Lonesome Sisters CD all of the time now. Its really dreamy and is the kind of CD that you can play over and over and get a consistent feeling from beginning to end. Saw the Lonesome Sisters in Cinci, and loved the show. Great Songwriters. Love the banjo stuff on it too...great taste. Cant get enough. Thank you!
