Back in the '90s I was a producer/programmer, right near the cutting edge of combining Rock and Electronic music. My biggest success was with a band called Senser, who had a number 3 album "Stacked Up" in 1994. I did all the production and programming for this album and produced singles, EPs and remixes for other bands such as Dub War and Lodestar.
In order to keep my programming skills keen I constantly programmed at home, making strange little tracks that mixed different styles of electronic music in a deliberately haphazard and bloody-minded manner. It amused me greatly creating these absurd, grotesque and crippled little tunes.
In 2006 I decided to release some of these tunes into the wild as "Selected Offcuts" through Rubbish Records. Only a very limited run was pressed and I have decided to re-release a re-mastered version online.
Here's the original spiel from the back of the 2006 version:
"I am LORD HAGOS.
I've been making experimental electronic music since around 1980 when I discovered how to dub from one cassette machine to another.
Since then I've programmed, mixed and produced albums, singles and remixes for various bands but never had a release of my own.
I always regarded the tracks I made at home as unfinished sketches and experiments, which I used parts of- or techniques developed in- for other more "bona fide" releases.
It's only very recently that I've felt that I want some of these tracks to be heard. As a result "Selected Offcuts"- an 11 track compilation- is now available on Rubbish Records.
I think these tracks take most of their influence from '70s ambient music and '90s electronic music- the latter coming from the point of view of an outsider to the scene..
I hope you enjoy them."
