Love in October is an indie rock duo from Chicago fronted by the Widman brothers, Erik and Kent. On February 8th the band will release their third EP, Love in October II. In contrast to their previous work it is a more spacious, uncontrolled, and naturally colored sound.
The majority of the recording took place in the large live room of Chemical Sound Studio in Toronto, ON where the band tracked the songs live off the floor to capture the energy of the band. “We wanted to do it old school like our favorite records from the 70s and rely on good musicianship,” says singer/guitarist Erik Widman. The session came to an abrupt halt when it was time to record the vocals as Erik developed serious throat problems and lost his voice. For months there was uncertainty if the songs would be finished or if Erik would even be able to sing again. As magically as the throat problems appeared, they vanished and the EP was completed.
The LiO experiment began 15 years ago when the brothers started playing music together in a bedroom in northern Sweden.
Over the years the band has had various lineups, names and styles, but the formula has always been the same: Erik & Kent making noise…LOUD NOISE! Love in October officially formed in the summer of 2006 in Minneapolis. In 2009 they moved to Chicago to find a better home for their music. They have released one full-length album and three EPs.
