ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
India's foremost violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam is one of the greatest living representatives of the South Indian classical system of music today. He has performed on countless stages in over fifty countries for the past five decades. After learning Carnatic music from his father and guru, Prof. V. Lakshminarayana, he went to the US to pursue a degree in Western classical composition and then created the Global Fusion idiom.

Pandit V. G. Jog, one of the greatest North Indian classical violinists learnt from the great Ustad Allauddin Khan and Dr. S. N. Ratanjankar. He performed with several leading musicians of his time and also extensively toured around the world. He was a well-known teacher and pedagogue.

In this album, the two musical greats come together to expound the famous raga Kalyani/Yaman. After performing an initial improvisational part, they play two compositions -- one set to Misra Chapu/Roopak tala and another to Adi/Teen tala.
