ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Luca Mundaca = Brazilian Jazz at its best! Luca is the new voice of bossa nova. When she performs, her smooth, sultry voice will take you straight to the heart of Brazil from the moment she sings her first note.

Luca just completed a successful spring tour in association with Putumayo World Music. Her music can be found on two of their compalations - Brazilian Lounge(2006) and Women of the World Acoustic(2007). Luca's song "Ha Dias" was recently chosen for an upcoming movie - more information coming soon!

Luca’s story - Luca was born in Chile and moved with her family to a small town south of Sao Paulo, Brazil at the age of 6. When Luca turned 15 she decided that she wanted a guitar. Luca is a self-taught musician. She wrote her first song the day she learned her first three chords. From that moment on, Luca devoted her life to her music.

In 1999 Luca moved to New York City and 8 months later was signed by a major label. They recorded a CD and prepared to launch Luca’s career – then September 11th happened, and the label was forced to let go most of their jazz department just a few months before Luca’s CD was to be released.

Luca was now on her own in New York, struggling to make ends. This is the point where Lumeni Productions, a family that started an independent label, becomes involved. Lumeni knew that Luca deserved a chance and they believed in her voice and music. Lumeni sent Luca to Brazil to record and self-produce her album titled “Day by Day”. “Day by Day” is a beautiful CD; it is getting much recognition from some of the top music industry people.

Some Quotes:

"Luca Mundaca is a gifted young singer and songwriter. Luca's music is a glorious blend of her native Brazil with a touch of downtown New York. She mines the deep melodic roots of her country's heritage, creating musical gems that she polishes with the lightest of touches. A talent to watch."
- Tom Evered, General Manager and Senior Vice-President Capitol Jazz and Classics

"Luca Mundaca is a singer and songwriter whose work I have been aware of since she arrived in NYC. Her abilities are unlimited; she has a stunning voice of great intimacy and emotion, and her songwriting is first rate. It is rare to find in an artist both the capacity to write brilliant melodies & profound lyrics, and to then perform them at such a high level of musicianship. She simply has it all."
- Seth Rothstein, VP Marketing, Sony Legacy

"’DAY BY DAY’ by Luca Mundaca - Simply tha Brazilian bomb - great musicians backing LM's superb vocal talent on superior compositions that respect and update the bossa/samba traditition - comparisons with the Gilbertos are inevitable and justified, she really is that good...”

'Day by Day'
I have loved brazillian jazz for as long as I can remember, and I've recently spent sleepless nights surfing the net for just the right flavor to satisfy my particular palate, Luca Mundaca has certainly done it for me by 125% and over, she's amazing,a breath of fresh air and quite sensational, Keep doing what you do Luca, your going places girl.......

Music that will flat out stop you and draw you in
A large YES in agreement with the previous reviews; and it's not that you will want to play it over again - you will NEED to - it's that compelling. The entire CD is great, but the sixth track "Deixa" gets my vote as most addictive. This music you do not just hear passively; it hooks you, gets under your skin and stays with you, you feel it, and that is a good thing. Thank you CD Baby for promoting Luca Mundaca, this CD is fabulous.

Trust me.

Beautiful music
Ha dias is lovely, yes, but yhe whole album is too - go for it!

FLY TO RIO...For Under $20 Per Person!
A WINNER! Absolutely better than expected. This CD is perfectly suited for both the Bossa Nova novice and connoisseur alike. With strong sultry vocals & addictive rhythmic beats, Luca Mundaca's Day By Day takes you on a non-stop, one-way journey into the heart of Brazil's organic music scene...don't forget your sunglasses!

Delightfully light writing
Reminds me of Bebel Gilberto or Maria Rita... excellent!

Original Brazilian vocals grab you and never let go!
This cd begs to be played over and over again! You can't get enough of the unique uncomplicated songs! Every song is individually different reflecting the versatility of this Brazilan singer/songwriter/guitar player. Typical Brazilian vocal with guitar, this cd is NOT your typical Jobim, Joao Gilberto-type and you can get hooked to her style.

Very nice listening
This is a very enjoyable album in that mellow samba style and more. If you like Gail Costa's voice you'll like Luca. Every song flows into the next. Good luck to this new artist. I'd like to see her live.

day by day eu quero mais te ver...
The production on this CD is clean and simple. You can imagine Luca singing in front of you. Bebel Gilberto? Não há comparação!

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL
One of my favorite album of all time. Ha dias caught my ear from the putumayo compilation the rest is history. A must have for any music lover. Also check out KUKU's "Unexpected Pleasures" while you are at it :)

Wonderful Bosa Nova!
I look high and low for great bosa nova and I am so thrilled to find this CD! It is relaxing and engaging all at the same time. So many times relaxing music is also very BORING after a few plays, but this little gem really stands up and gets a five star.
