This new CD is a collection of ballads, mostly - stories of tomcats and restless men on the prowl; of Buck Stone, who shot the town bully in the wild western Florida town of Port St. Joe then fled to Texas. Another restless wanderer, a father, remembered as ‘trying to catch up to the good life, even though he always stayed one step behind.'
Oklahoma is the story of a love affair with a train and the hope of never slowing down. The River takes you to that wonderful place where family and friends wait for you; Full Throttle is the discovery of all life has to offer when you're too old to die young.
Livin' for the Weekend is just that....work all week just to raise hell on Friday night. Just a Little Bit is a saucy negotiation, as in ‘just a little bit high, just a little bit low....got to get it right or you've got to go....baby tonight.'
Pink Pill Box starts with a remembered vision of Jackie Kennedy, all dressed in pink and smiling to the crowd along that Texas motorway, and the song talks about mercy. Lord, I'm a Drunk simply tells the tale. Silver Spoon separates rich from poor and Ride the Pony closes out the CD with a sweet thought - ‘friendship is like a faithful pony waiting patiently beside the gate.'
13 original songs from Maggie and Michael McKinney - Lucky Mud. The CD was introduced November 2008 in the West of Ireland on our last tour and premiered on both 96.1 Mid-West Radio Ballyhhaunis and CRCfm in Castlebar. It was recorded in Southern Zen Studio at Maggie's Farm.
