ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
From Yiddish folk tunes, to traditional and modern liturgical settings, to Broadway and the movies, these 18 songs represent Howard Lutwak's desire to bring to a broader audience these beautiful and moving works that span the generations of Jewish tradition. In Judaism, the number 18 is considered a lucky number because the Hebrew letters that represent the number 18 also spell the word “chai” which means “life.“

Howard Lutwak, guitar
Born in Hollywood, California, Howard begain playing the guitar at the age of eight. He has performed as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles. He studied with Segovia student Professor Ronald Purcell at California State University, Northridge, with Frederick Noad at the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, with John Duarte at the Cannington International Guitar Summer School and in master classes with Carlos Barbosa-Lima and Manuel Barrueco. Howard has performed on the CDs Songs of Angels and Caro Mio Ben.

Laura Halladay, flute
Laura Halladay has performed extensively in concerts, recordings and for television and video productions. She was the recipient of a gold record for her flute playing on the Linda Ronstadt album Canciones de mi Padre.

Cover art is by the renowned Israeli artist, Bracha Lavee.

For relaxation or meditation, this collection of 18 favorite songs will make an excellent gift at Hannukah or any time of the year.

Very Refreshing CD
I really enjoyed the CD. I am a pop/blues guitarist so I wasn't sure if I could appreciate the skills . . but I did! It is a very refreshing, relaxing experience. I don't think I can name a favorite . . I enjoyed the title track and the songs from Fiddler. And, of course, the theme from Exodus which I hadn't heard for, perhaps, 25 years. This was very enjoyable!

Love This Album!
I stumbled across Howard's beautiful interpretations and guitar artistry when I looked up Jewish music in ITunes. This music is so soothing that we play it every Shabbat evening and often during the day. I hope someday I can see Howard perform in person and that he makes more gorgeous guitar music. This cd is on my IPhone, my computer and on my cd player. It is by far my favorite cd. Buy it, you can't go wrong.
