ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In My Eyes

Lydia Gray

Lydia Gray brings an intimate setting to the covers of pop tunes from the 60's through the 90's with a crystal clear voice and warm instrumentation using guitar, drums and cello. Although from a jazz heritage (her Mom is Betty Johnson of Tonight Show fame) in this CD, Ms. Gray infuses this jazz sensibility and modern sound in a Diana Krall/Norah Jones approach - minial arrangements and mellow vocals.

A Brief Word From Lydia Gray:

How can you thank all of the people who have influenced your life? On my senior high school yearbook page I wrote, “I would like to thank the Academy and all those who made it possible for my being here!” I wanted to become a famous actress...but I went down other paths. For good or bad, every path crossed can be influential. In the last few years of battling health issues, I have realized even the darkest days can be full of blessings. I thank God for all He has given me; His grace sees me through.

I now thank the real Academy in my life, MY FAMILY! Mom the Mogul and Dad, your love and support are without bounds and I love you so! The recording of this project took place in Spain and under my sister’s amazing guidance, where I experienced the most creative 5 days of my life. Thank you, my dear Elisabeth, and your beautiful family for opening your home to me and making this experience such a joy. I love you all! A thousand thanks to all those incredible musicians for their talent and hard work! Thank you to my brother Dick and his family for their love and for listening to and making music! For all those who face heartache and uncertainty with such courage in any infusion suite anywhere - I am your sister - you have given me such a different outlook on the world, thank you. Finally, to the love of my life, Stephen - you are the most wonderful, loving husband.
I thank you and our sweet children, Katie and Nicholas, for letting me
pursue my dreams and for loving me no matter what!

Each of these songs represent something of my past, present, and future the way I picture it! Perhaps you will remember when and where you were when you first heard these songs, or perhaps one is an anthem to a time in your life that has come and gone, but the music can help you remember - music is the essence - thank you dear friends and to all who help pick these songs by coming into my life.

Outstanding Vocals - Check out Lydia
Hailing from such a talented musical family, Lydia Gray's recording of popular hits entitled "In My Eyes" reflects multi-generational influences. Her pitch is fantastic, accompaniment light and airy, and her interpretations right-on! We think Gray captures the feeling and hidden meaning in this excellent collection modern hits. If you enjoy Norah Jones, then you'll enjoy this CD. Lydia's sultry vocals are stand-out in "I Love Him," along with fantastic flute in this number and on "Red Rain." For the brilliant "sadness" of the guitar and cello, plus Lydia's sweet vocal rendition, our pick is "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word." All there is left to say, "Hurry, don't wait another day until you check out Lydia's beautiful vocals on these memorable songs."
