ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Adventure Begins! Super group, The Mackrosoft, presents "1st Mack to the Moon", installment one of the Mackrosoft Trilogy. This opus unites the originators of funk fusion with an incredible cast of players from the forefront of the genre today.

The backbone is formed by Mike Clark on drums and Paul Jackson on bass, the acclaimed rhythm section from Herbie Hancock's Headhunters. Also featured is the legendary Fred Wesley of James Brown and George Clinton infamy, laying down some of his finest trombone solos in years. Among the featured new school players are members of the B-Side Players, Maktub, and The 88's. Produced and recorded by Aja West in Seattle, Los Angeles, and The Netherlands.

"Juicy jams for toasty weather. Hot dogs ridin' baked beats. Settle into your summer with this laid-back collection of slinky grooves." - LL, Amoeba buyer

In celebration of the thirty year anniversary of the most critically acclaimed and largest selling jazz funk album of all time, Herbie Hancock's "Headhunters", comes "1st Mack to the Moon". Under the direction of producer and composer, AJA WEST, Herbie's original rhythm section of MIKE CLARK on drums and PAUL JACKSON on bass reunite and sound better than ever. The inclusion of long time James Brown writer and arranger FRED WESLEY on trombone takes this over the top. It's like a funk fusion fantasy band! Every track is incredibly dope, consistently funky and well recorded. It may take another thirty years of digestion for someone to properly follow up this effort!

1ST MACK TO THE MOON
AWESOME!

djouls, Saounds, France

soul, funk, acid jazz, even a little rock'n'roll
The Mackrosoft trilogy thus announces immediately soul, funk, acid jazz, even a little rock'n'roll and especially very trippée. Perhaps even a little too. Lastly, when a group of funk west coast launches out in jams funk limit New Orleans, one will not complain any! When in more by checkant the notes of small pockets one realizes that among the guests of this first opus (of a series of three) one finds Fred Wesley (trombonist of the JB' S , inter alia) like Mike Clark and Paul Jackson (the rhythm section of Headhunters !), there one is sure not to make the fine mouth.

Must Have for Funk Fans!!
Alright, why am I just finding out about this? The only reason this disc doesn't get 5 stars is because it's a little short. Give me more!! JazzFunkCool, this will have you jiggling in your seat. One look at the lineup says it all. I can't wait to check out the other installments of this supergroup.

CB

too short, but...
very nice relaxed funk without any nervy vocals!

Funky, Jazzy, Amazing, Intelligent, and Dope!
Dope. Just dope. So incredibly dope. Just listen to the MP3s! I wish rappers were flowing on these kinds of beats today. Intelligent and futuristic. Like a hip-hop Steely Dan or some old "Paul's Boutique", Beastie Boy funk. Jazzy, Nasty, and Amazing!
