Madrigirls was formed in 2000 by Co-Directors Katy Cooper and Catriona Hutchinson, then both undergraduates at the University. It now consists of 23 female undergraduates, postgraduates and alumni of the University. As well as an annual Advent carol service in the Glasgow University chapel, they also sing in venues as diverse as the Royal Chapel at Stirling Castle, Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens and the Cloisters at the University.
The album, Nevermas, is an eclectic mix that reflects the wide range of music that the girls sing regularly, including everything from early sacred music, madrigals and Spanish Pilgrim songs to original arrangements of traditional music from Scotland, England, Finland and even Georgia.
