ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Many years ago, while studying the classical guitar in Spain, David Malmberg envisioned the role of the guitar as a miniature orchestra accompanying the voice. Fairwood is the result of this vision. Aside from guitar and voice, the music on this work is free of additional instrumentation. Consequently, the guitar is elevated to higher limits of accompaniment, interacting with the voice in counterpoint.

The result is a recording that is pastoral and yet intricate. Beauty, free of triviality. There is no overdubbing, only voice and guitar. It is the hope of Mr. Malmberg that the nature of Fairwood will provide a breath of fresh air in a musical world all too cluttered with overproduction.
