Interview By Jessica Richardson
The First time I saw Manny perform was at Rumors, a club in SW Miami.
I asked him about his new CD , he told me it was finished but it needed Ray Martinez Mixing & Julio Ferrer Mastering .
Ray Martinez is one of the best record producer in the area.
Julio Ferrer is a perfectionist in Mastering.
I asked Manny for an interview, and a few weeks latter , he invited me to his home studio in Miami.
Jessica ; Did you enjoy writing the new songs ?
Yes, very much.
I heard the songs ,which one is your favorite?
Well I like them all , is that a good answer.
When you wrote the songs , Did you have somebody in mind?
Yes specially ,Soul Survivor and Fire in your eye
In Soul Survivor , I thought of somebody ,that has a strong will to survive and never
gives up the hope to live. Fire In Your eye is all about a person looking for love after having a
bad love experience, But now thing have changed , the person is a little older and out of place.
In the song Remember (recurdate) I like the way you have Spanish lyrics with a Latin rhythm
You like writing Latin music ?
Yes , I love the sound of Latin percussion, in Recuerdate and Rosa Linda these songs are a mix of Santana and Clapton’s guitar styles . I really worked hard to create the guitar parts, I hope my
fellow musician don’t hit me to hard.
I Listing to the song selection on the CD, why did you choose to write different style of music?
Well, it just came out that way, I had the honor of working in bands with great local
musician’s doing cover songs , That helped me to be able to play different music styles. Like in , Last time ,Take or leave it , you’re the One and Keep it up.
Do you still listen to the old songs ?
That’s a great question, I love all types of music .
I can travel back in time by just relaxing, closing my eyes and listing to a song.
A song can bring back memories from a very special time in your life, you can travel back to a warm summer night , your first kiss to that special person you loved while growing up .or bring back a moment you spent with friends.
Well thank you for you time Manny and the best of luck with your new CD Honey Rush .
Thank you Jessica.
I work very hard to create these wonderfull songs, and hope you will enjoy.
One thing I can say, when performing these songs you have to feel them. If you don't feel them , nobody is going to feel it. I learn that from my hero carlos santana & Mr. Eric Clapton. you have to be conscious of what you play. There is something that goes beyond the note, chord, lyrik.
You have to to be able to feel it. Otherwise other people are not going to feel it.
