This CD has been warmly greeted, perched in the top 1 of the Internet Roots Rock Top 50 for nearly 6 months, and as high as #6 on the US Folk DJ Chart!
Marc writes the kind of songs that reveal themselves over time. And whether it's the sultry opener, 'Red Lite', or the laugh out loud, 'I Love You Rachel Maddow', Marc's vocals are soothing and clear, adding a rich texture...never getting in the way of the song. This is music to be felt and heard in many contexts. Perfect for driving, dancing...or just hanging out with the music
Most of this collection was recorded with the rhythm section from the current Ray La Montagne band, Jay Bellerose on drums and Jennifer Condos on bass. Marc also gets assists from Steve Gadd, Mark Goldenberg, Sloan Wainwright, Don Davis and many other players, each with the skill and subtlety to help present this high level of craftsmanship.
This CD is full of delightful surprises. Who, beside Marc, rhymes the yiddish word, 'kvetches', with 'precious'? Where else will you hear love songs to coffee? Each song is like a spoke on a big old wheel, rolling down a colorful highway.
So roll down the windows, turn up the music and enjoy the scenery...these 'Pictures of the Highway'.

He is all his own, in a way that only other very special artists, such as Tom Waits, are all their own. His lyrics are nothing less than the poetry of the night.

"I Love You Rachel Maddow" — has a chorus so catchy it's hard not to join in. There's no shortage of tunes that keep playing in your head, I've been waking up with it for days." Kay Cordtz / Elmore
