Album Notes
Welcome to the Spinal Floss. I created this yoga sequence for my students to do as homework each day. The primary intension of the Spinal Floss is for you to learn daily care of the back by moving through the five spinal directions of movement. All human bodies need to forward bend, back bend, lateral bend, twist and extend for optimal health. All yoga postures are composed of these five movements. As with all exercise, consult with a physician before adding this into your fitness program.

The knowledge you will gain from your Spinal Floss experience will serve you for years to come in your efforts to live in a pain free body. Just as we floss the teeth daily to prevent tooth decay and gum disease, we floss the spine daily to prevent degenerative disk disease and premature aging. Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced yogi, Spinal Flossing will increase your body awareness, enhance your current level of fitness and help you to respond to your body's needs on any given day.

There are four sessions on this download. The first two take you through the Spinal Floss with different thematic material. An adaptation workshop, gives you propping options and movement variations to best serve your individual needs. I recommend starting or ending your practice sessions with the pranayama instruction, breathing awareness, to help center the mind and calm the nervous system.

The central idea behind the Spinal Floss is to enjoy it. When we rush, we cause tension, anxiety and disease. We cannot enjoy anything unless we slow down. At first, many students are challenged by the simplicity of the Spinal Floss. How can something so easy benefit me? Don’t I have to work hard to get the results I want? The answer is no. Simplicity, slowing down, and lying on your back are what make this sequence so profound and beneficial. In addition to massaging your back, the spinal floss massages your internal organs helping them to function at their best. Your mind becomes focused and clear, strengthening your will to orchestrate your life as you choose. Let slowing down be at the heart of your practice and see how it can influence all aspects of your life.

A wonderful way to soothe and strengthen your back!
Margo's Spinal Floss series is absolutely a revelation. She teaches you how to gently move and stretch your back in all its five directions (forward, backward, twist, lateral, and extension) using the support of the floor to keep your back supported. It only takes a few minutes, and is absolutely a wonderful way to start your day, relax before bedtime, warm up before a yoga practice, and/or ease any back pain you might be feeling. Her instructions are clear, and her voice is soothing and relaxing.

I have been a student of Margo's for several years now, and her focus on strengthening and caring for the back, rather than pushing and pulling one's back into stressful positions in yoga, has changed my life. I no longer have back pain after running, biking, skiing, or lifting weights, and if I ever experience back pain from a long day at work or from a hard workout, I just do a little spinal flossing and I'm back to 100% in no time.

The Spinal Floss is an Amazing Healing Tool
Using the spinal floss has changed my life. Doing the spinal floss every day has helped heal my back and hips. Before the spinal floss, I awoke each morning to a sore back and hips which worsened each and every day. I began the spinal floss back in August of 2012. I did the spinal floss technique every single day for a month, and showed tremendous improvements in the flexibility of my back, the soreness I once had went away, and my posture improved.
After a month of daily spinal flossing, I began to slip away from spinal flossing. I would miss a day out of the week, then missed two days the next week. After a few weeks, I had missed practicing the spinal floss for an entire week. My back hurt sooooo bad! I have now returned to using the spinal floss each and every day, with maybe a missed day here or there, but man can my back feel bad when I miss one day.
