Maria Howell first gained the national spotlight in the Steven Speilberg film, "The Color Purple", where she was the featured choir soloist in a major scene.
Since that time, she has opened for the late Ray Charles, and performed with the likes of Nancy Wilson, George Benson and Jeffrey Osborne. She has starred in TV's "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles", and on stage in Langston Hughes' "Tambourines to Glory".
Having toured and lived in Japan she now resides in Atlanta, Ga. where she performs regularly. She has released several successful CD's, all available through her website (below left).
An accomplished actor as well as a dynamic vocalist, she most recently appeared in the film "Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls".
With the holiday single "What Does Christmas Mean To You", Maria Howell delivers a heartfelt vocal that begs us to pause amidst the rush and glitter and reflect on the true spirit of the season.
