Mari keeps it real on this one
Being familiar with Mari Iijima's westcoast sound, I feel this was somewhat of a stylistical departure for her, as Silent Love includes much more programming than her previous albums. But she knows how to use it well and to full effect here, especially on the otherworldly dream sequence of Lucid Dreams and the almost video-arcade styled I'm Always With You, which can be seen as kind of a nod to anime. Other favourites of mine include You're the One (That I Love), LA-X (yes, the club of the same name) and my choice for best song of the disc, Is This Love.

New and fresh, Liked it from the first song, cute voice like the blend of English and Japanese. GREAT JOB

Another masterpiece from Mari ! Whenever this CD is in my CD player, the REPEAT button is always left "ON" !

Feel comfort.
I suggest to you that the sound of your audio device should be quieter than usual, when you listen this album. And also turn on "Repeat function". Mari's smooth and gentle voice will take you to heaven.

soothing relief
I promise these simple and honest songs will purify your body and soul. Transparency of the tone colorations sounds like nature's harmony between floating air and flowing water. Moreover, Mari's mellifluous voice is so cute.

Simply a beautiful work of art...
I've been a Iijima Mari fan for years and this is one of her most honest and revealing work yet as a songwriter/singer.

The album is slick but not in the way you would imagine. The beauty of this album is in its "complicated simplicity". Mari self wrote, produced, arranged and played all parts of this album except the guitars which were done by the incredible Mr. Pierce.

The listener is immediately drawn into her world and the music seems very simple and almost stripped down compared to her previous releases... but upon closer inspection you can hear the subtle and intricate things she did to create each tracks distinctive sound. Her knack for finding the right groove for each song is uncanny. Check out Lucid Dreams, You're the One, LAX, PolkaDot and Survivor.

I think the most important thing Mari does is get across an emotion. Even though parts of the album are in Japanese, there is no denying an emotion that you get from listening to this album. No words are needed to impart that.

Favorite Tracks: You're the One, Serendipity, LAX, Polka Dot.

This is the Mari I was waiting for... simple, unpretentious and very real. This one goes straight to my desert island Top Ten. Good job Mari!!!

An Incredable Musical Jounrey of Love, Sacrafice, And Reflection.
Different from anything Mari’s ever done before, her 18th original album, Silent Love, is a masterpiece! Stream of consciousness and an uncensored look into the soul come together to create an album that words simple cannot fully or accurately describe.

The synthesized orchestrations highlighted with more contemporary instruments such as drums, bass guitar, and piano create the ethereal mood of this album. Every track is lush and vibrant and takes hold of the listener without ever letting go.

If you’re looking for depth, soulful reflection, and deeply profound wisdom and healing then buy this CD. You will not be disappointed. Every listen is like a first listen, revealing more and more about not only Mari’s heart and soul but about the nature of the universe we live in.

LUCID DREAMS – A beautiful yet eerie song that takes the listener through a vivid yet shocking dream-state.
YOU’RE THE ONE – Love is a bond that knows no bounds yet holds so much.
SERENDIPITY – It’s what makes the world go ‘round. The simple hidden gifts of fate are some of life’s greatest pleasures. Simply beautiful.
LAX – Light, fun, and inspiring. Sometimes it is the little things that mean the most.
CAN YOU TRUST ME – Honest and pure. A song that puts to words the feeling of being shut out.
PETAL – Haunting and beautiful. The raw emotion of the melody, lyrics, and singing are just phenomenal.
POLKA DOT – A strong straightforward song with a great rock beat.
SURVIVOR – Some scars are forever and pain has a way of molding us into the people we become be that good or bad. Yet at some level everyone needs someone to hold on to.
I’M ALWAYS WITH YOU – The lightest of the tracks. A sweet and upbeat song.
FREE FALLING – A beautiful instrumental peace that gives the listener a breath of fresh air yet draws them deeper into the finale of the album’s musical journey.
IS THIS LOVE – Honest and unflinching. The listener emerges from the dream and the journey along with the melody of this song, and begins a new path. Wonderful.

See inside Mari Iijima's heart and soul
As others have observed, Mari has given us another unadulterated look into the inner working of her soul, a glimpse of her inner being. Songs like Petal, Survivor, and Is This Love expose her expose her feelings about life and love, hopes and dream, fears and trepidations. She's a very human person, and her music is the proof of the woman she is: a shining star who's very down to earth and very real.

You want a good album to help you dig deep into your own emotions? Listen to this one and let Miss Iijima share hers with you. The rest will come naturally ....

Great CD!!! Very relaxing, listen to it on the way to work.
I really enjoyed this cd for the great quality of the music. Mari's voice is very smooth and relaxing and the beats that she sings to are upbeat and moving. I have really enjoyed listening to this cd, and play it on the way too and from work. That is about an hour a day that I can go through it, and I still haven't tired of it. I would really recomend this cd to my friends, oh wait, I already have. Great stuff.
