Bring It On

by Mari Jackson

A melodic, soulful & jazzy sound, which people liken to Van Morrison, although the vocal is very distinctive and difficult to liken to anyone elses.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
WHO IS MARI JACKSON?
I'm from Holywood, Co. down, N Ireland & I've always been a singer! Even as a kid it was always there, listening to radio Luxembourg, soaking up all those vibes. Listening to my Dads 45's, Fats Domino, Johnny Cash, Sinatra... Yeah, I had it bad!
I sing as if my life depends upon it, from my boots and from my soul, it has to be real, it has to be life... Otherwise forget it!
I've been doing the circuit for a while now, playing the local blues & jazz gigs and festivals around Ireland, playing on the same bills as Doctor Feelgood, Peter Green (playing for two men and their dog in anonymous pubs!!!!)
Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, Sarah Vaughan, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison - these beautiful God like geniuses still inspire me, move me to tears, spur me on to better things and generally help make the world go round and round on its axis!!
I've sang for the last ten years in various formats as the Mari Jackson Band. We recorded a great wee album of covers called Makin Amenz (Bless you Janis Joplin) some of which are on my music page & can be found on youtube. Although I've belted out blues & soul for a long time, I recently made the decision to work on the softer side of my voice showing another dimension to it.
Presently I'm performing with my outfit Jackson Soul, (also the name of my recording label) working on some of my own original material, still feeling it, still keeping it real.............
