ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The music on these two CDs, baroque and contemporary (only baroque CD is available here on MP3), are poles apart, yet Marika Lombardi can identify with both periods and enjoy expressing herself musically in either style.

It is no secret that the CD dedicated to contemporary music is inspired by desire of Marika Lombardi for people to discover exciting new works worthy of becoming a part of the official oboe Repertoire. Works sometimes she found by chance while rummaging in music shops between concerts. By simply reading them she could imagine how they would sound. She has successfully played them in concerts and now she has recorded them, allowing these hidden gems to become known to a wider audience.

As for the baroque disc, these performances help to open up new musical perspectives for works that were originally written for other instruments, such as the flute or the viola da gamba.
