ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
We won’t be wrong if we’ll say that the art of lautars was an elite one, in good sense of word. From old times, lautars – traditional musicians that lived at the lords’ or noblemens’ courts – developed an interpretative art of unequaled virtuosity. Music played by lautars was very diverse, covering all tastes and genres known in time, being loved by the lords and noblemen as well as by the simple people from towns and villages. The really impressing national Romanian repertoire possessed by the lautars was always filled with new melodies – from classical or saloon music, town songs and author romances, other nations’ melodies. The interpretative art of the lautars reached the peaks of virtuosity and artistry in XIX-XX centuries, becoming (being ) admired in whole Europe and America in lords’ palaces, on concert stages or (select) restaurants and prestigious festivals.
