After Jesus Christ apprehended me, I heard someone speak about the value of memorizing Scripture. So I began to do so, writing verses on notecards and memorizing by repetition. Having been a rock musician, one day the thought occurred to me that music makes it easier to remember things - after all, commercials used music in their jingles to make their slogans "stick" in people's minds. So I began putting Scriptures to music and found I could memorize them easily because the words were linked to a melody. When my wife and I began having children, I used the Scripture songs to help my kids learn verses. At first I used more child-oriented music, but found that my kids could learn Scripture even with more "adult" music and melodies.
Eventually I decided to produce Scripture Songs for my church to help folks memorize God's word, and that was how "Hide the Word" CDs were born. Since 2000 I've produced 10 CDs, and many people have told me they've helped them memorize Scripture. One parent of a 2-year-old sent me a video of their child singing one of the Scripture songs. Grade schools, home schoolers and Sunday Schools have used Hide the Word CDs to help people learn verses. Adults have told me the Scriptures they memorized helped them and encouraged them.
My desire would be that both adults and children could learn God's Word and through his Word be built up, strengthened and encouraged.
