Album Notes
Mark Deutsch can best be described as a 21st century Renaissance man. A professional musician since the age of twelve, he is a visionary artist with a background in non-linear mathematics, sacred systems and cosmology. His extensive experience as a classical bass and sitar player combined with his deep understanding of vibrational systems led him to create his patented groundbreaking instrument the Bazantar - A mesmerizing multi-textured instrument which draws on both Eastern and Western traditions. His breathtaking musical explorations invoke the ancient traditions of trance ritual and embody a sacred artistry rarely heard in contemporary cultures.

Since the creation of the Bazantar and the critically acclaimed release of his first solo recording "Fool", Mark has been much in demand as a solo performer and as a session musician. On the collaborative side, his music has attracted an eclectic array of some of today's finest musicians, including Grammy award-winning cellist David Darling, film composer David Julyan (Insomnia, Memento), electronic violinist Kenji Williams of ABA Structure, seminal Chicago rock band Tortoise, and jazz luminaries such as William Parker, Roy Campbell, and Hamid Drake.

Mark currently resides in San Francisco while working on his second solo release, the film score for Roko Belic's (Ghenghis Blues) new film "Twilight Men", and a collaboration with didjeridu master Stephen Kent. The word is getting out and some of the most respected musicians, scientists and sonic adventurers are looking to him as a revolutionary guide to these newfound realms of vibration and sound.

One long, continuous moment of bliss.
A masterpiece. Not only are compositions incredibly intricate and beautiful, but the DEPTH with which they are performed is astounding and clearly apparent to the listener. Not your usual fare. This album is an exquisite piece of work, and a must have for any lover of music.

Wonderful disc. Cut six is my fav, but all are perfect!

Why isn't he scoring major films ?
I love all kinds of music. I'll give any style of music a try before I decide if I like it or not. So when I put Mark Deutsch's FOOL into my cd player for the first time, I wasn't dissapointed at all. Only a "fool" would not appreciate the exotic sounds of the bazantar, an instrument of his own creation. Come and be introduced to the journey that is "Fool" discover what a Bazantar sounds like and when the movie ends, remember that you are the "fool" and Mark Deutsch is your creator.

audio delight

awesome! excellent! wonderful!
i hope to see mark perform in person

I have been meaning to purchase thic CD for a while now, and wish I had done so when I first became aware of it. It is both evocative and peacefull, with an overall tranquill feel. I recomend it, perhaps with a good single malt and cigar.

Want more low range
I've been trying to find all the information I can on the Bazantar. It's inspired me to explore sympathetic strings. What I like most about the instrument is how the design allows for very low frequency sympathetics. And this is why the album only gets 4 stars: The Painted Bird is the only song that rumbles my bones. The other tracks are wonderful, but (and this is obviously opinion) a more direct focus on the lower end would have netted five stars from me.

Mark! you've heard my heart! I also play bass & tamboura, i always wanted to hear them together as one & imagined the sound... now you've created it! Your music is so absolutely beautiful & goes to my heart! Thanks!

I've never heard such beautiful music before. Unspeakable flavour of sounds!

Gorgeous, gorgeous music
This is simply wonderful. As a professional musician, I'm always looking for new sounds and new instruments. Deutch's music is absolutely INCREDIBLE. This CD was a fabulous purchase.

I was astounded when I listened to it the first time and the 25th time. Track 2 is a masterpiece. The whole disc is superb.
