Album Notes
Mark Narmore grew up in the shadow of the music mecca of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
He grew up emulating the hits he heard coming from his hometown. As a songwriter, Mark has enjoyed major success in the country music field with many songs recorded byJosh Turner, John Michael Montgomery, Terri Clark and over 70 other artists. He solely wrote Shenandoah's "Moon Over Georgia" and co-wrote "Like There Aint No Yesterday" for the group Blackhawk, and also 6 week #1 "That's What I Love About Sunday" for Craig Morgan. Mark's first cousin Spooner Oldham who helped birth the Muscle Shoals Music industry in the sixties has been a huge inspiration for Mark over the years. So it's cool that the two of them got together to write and produce this project along with another great Shoals songwriter Carl Holder. Carl suggested that he, Spooner and Mark get together to write some songs, the result has been a weekly get together that has yielded thirty plus recordings to date. All of the songs on "Chocolate Gravy" were written on Spooner's back deck, with accordion, mandolin and of course a couple guitars handy, and recorded in downtown Sheffield, Alabama at the Nutthouse with Jimmy Nutt, with all Muscle Shoals pickers including Spooner Oldham, Jimmy Nutt, David Hood, Jim "Bebop" Evans, Kelvin Holley, Carl Holder, Mark Narmore, Trinecia "Tre" Butler. All of the sessions are very experential, funky and wonderfully old school, with of course some good country cookin' when it gets lunch time. Recommend this project to all of your friends and family and get acquainted with some true Swamper music.
