ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Martin Harley has long been a staple on the UK Blues and Folk scene with both his own solo releases and the Martin Harley Band. He's released 4 albums prior to "Mojo Fix", and this solo album recorded in Texas will mark Harley's U.S. debut as he crosses the "pond" to bring his own celebrated hybrid of delta blues/folk and singer-songwriter material to the states. Harley's rock influences take the lead on this album as a strong foundation for his masterful dynamics on the rarely seen Weissenborn lap-steel guitar. Also a celebrated acoustic stylist, Martin chose to focus this album more on his rock and roll roots and to go back to the "Delta Blues" greats who influenced him when he first picked up slide guitar as he lived in his car traveling around the coast of Australia surfing. Harley is an avid cyclist, climber and lover of people, places and travel and it shows in the diverse lyrics and styles of the music he creates. He's as at home with the slick solos of a Django-styled jump swing piece like "Wrecking Ball" as he is on the driving rock and distorted title track "Mojo Fix" and "Ball & Chain." He moves gracefully back to emotional and soulful vocals and solos that conjure the ghosts of Ry Cooder on tracks like "Cardboard King" and "Treading Water", and then simply parties with a few songs that just sound like he knows his way around a good pub. Martin Harley has been # 1 on the UK iTunes blues chart with his last record, and this record is sure to open even more doors as he tours across the UK and now extensively in the US to support this release. His interest in travel and people flows smoothly through the clever lyrics of his songs and speak to not only his own experiences, but his cinematic ability to paint the picture of a character in music. "Mojo Fix" is album full of diverse and great tracks with a lot of depth and variety. The album features musical contributions from legendary names like legendary studio drummer Walfredo Reyes, drummer McKenzie Smith of Midlake, master violinist Charlie Bisharat, Bob Parr, founding bassist of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and Jon McLaughlin.
