Martin initially learned his craft from his late father, who began teaching him at age twelve. Martin shortly thereafter became influenced by his favorite guitarists and the musical styles of the Doobie Brothers, James Taylor, Loggins & Messina, and Eric Clapton.
Some of Martin's later acoustic influences included Acoustic Alchemy, Phil Keaggy, and Tommy Emmanuel. Current favorites include Peppino D'Agostino, and Laurence Juber, who Martin has opened up for in local concerts.
"The acoustic guitar inspires me to create a musical journey. As I continued to grow musically, my experimentation with alternate tunings led me to some of the great finger style players."
