ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
MARTYN BATES
UNSUNG
"Unsung" is a stark, personal and incredibly engaging new work from Eyeless In Gaza man Martyn Bates. With Unsung Martyn Bates takes on the more traditional role as a singer-songwriter, armed solely with his guitar for accompaniment, save for the occasional sparse colouring. While the searching, evocative sensibilities have been translated from his work with Eyeless In Gaza, "Unsung" strikes the listener as more in the lineage of some un-categorisable variant of neo-folk. A powerful work of simplicity that at times recalls the likes of Bert Jansch's brutal truths dressed in pretty melodies. Beautifully produced by Orchis / World Serpent Distribution catalyst Alan Trench.
