CD Baby Album Description #2.
Welcome to this WORLDWIDE CELTIC LOVE KNOT PROJECT, combining the loves of music, sleep and children!
As the title suggests, this debut album is a clever mix of two genres loved the world over.
Traditional Celtic selections are sure to please those with a little or a lot of Celtic heritage and those who just love the music.
Also included are favorite Broadway and light classical selections, This debut album began as a keepsake project intended for the artist’s children. Often, when they were little boys Mary Morris McDonell would play piano for them when they couldn’t get to sleep.
Ironically, most listeners say that the music washes over them with incredible, therapeutic tranquility.
Song *7 is titled Autumn Wings (Rory’s Song) and was composed by the Artist. It was inspired by the flight-from-the-nest of her first born; the time of life that most parents dread and approach with a mixed bundle of emotions.
“It was during that heart-wrenching journey in the late summer, to (and especially from) his university campus, during his freshman year, that this song came to me. It was completed as the fall unfolded."
5 BEAUTIFUL BONUS VOCAL TRACKS! At the end of the album you will hear 5 BONUS vocal selections performed by the artist and her talented siblings, (The Morris Family). An extra special mother/daughter duet performed by her young niece, Shannon Manley (12 yrs.) and Shannon's mom, Maureen Morris Manley.
Halfway through the CD project, Mary (who is elementary school educator and Choir director ) became involved in a fundraising effort for Sleeping Children Around the World. (www.scaw) While Grant Clark, SCAW volunteer, was delivering his presentation, Mary “realized what she had to do with these songs that she had played for her own children when they couldn’t sleep.” Hence, the CD became a partial fundraise; 25% of the proceeds will be donated to SCAW to provide bedkits for children in 3rd world countries. (See liner notes inside the CD…”DEDICATION’)
SCAW is an organization which was begun by Murray and Margaret Dryden, parents of former NHL hockey greats, Ken and Dave Dryden. (www.scaw) To date, SCAW has delivered one million bedkits to kids in 3rd world countries who would have otherwise slept on the ground.
Enjoy the music! May it soothe your soul.
