Album Notes
"Sacred Days Mythic Ways" is the new exciting CD from internationally acclaimed Irish singer / composer / arranger Mary Mc Laughlin. In this work Irish born Mc Laughlin brings together her two great musical passions: Irish Mythology and ancient Irish sacred song, including the Latin chants of early Christian monks (collectively known as Gregorian Chant).
Celtic Christianity is the name given to a form of Christianity practiced in Ireland where mythology and spirituality are seen as being on the same continuum and where each exerts an influence on the other. The songs chosen for this album reveal that fusion, both musically and textually, by combining sacred songs from the Christian and pre Christian traditions, in particular from the fairy tradition.
Mc Laughlin is internationally recognized for her lavish multi tracked vocal arrangements and on "Sacred Days Mythic Ways" is supported by sterling instrumentalists on cello, harp, uillean pipes, nyckelharpa and bodhrán.

Irish born Mc Laughlin placed among the top four winners of the Indie JPF awards 2009 (Holiday albums) for her previous CD "A Gaelic Christmas". She first came to attention in the USA on the Narada (EMI) release "Celtic Voices", which charted at #3 on the Billboard World Music charts; this was followed by "Celtic Requiem" on the Windham Hill (BMG) label which led to her being featured on many Celtic compilations, including "Conversations With God 2".
A highly respected teacher, she developed a phonetic system to help non Gaelic speakers sing in Irish which led to the publication of her first teaching book "Singing In Irish Gaelic" on Mel Bay Publishing and ultimately to her founding a Gaelic choir in Northern California where she currently lives.
To date she has recorded five albums, written two instructional books and was the featured singer on the PBS special about the Titanic "Lost Liners".

You can find out more about her, her Gaelic choir (Cór Ainglí) and her other solo and compilation albums by visiting You will also find there detailed liner notes for "Sacred Days Mythic Ways" including lyrics to all the songs with English translations, album artwork and photos of the musicians.
