Album Notes
"Mary explores the southeastern clawhammer repertoire on no less than six different banjos – a gut-strung Goldtone Elite Classic, a Gibson RB250, a Deering White Shell Laydie, a Bacon Professional, a Cedar Mountain, and a gourd banjo. With all of these distinctive voices, I couldn’t help but feel I was out on the porch, swapping tunes with at least five or six other musicians, each boasting his or her own stylisitics, but each with a deep understanding of the same exquisite regional form." Andy Rubin (Banjo Newsletter/September 2006)

We recorded our favorite traditional tunes and the tunes folks request from us the most. We hope you will enjoy them too. :)

Mary Z. is also a banjoholic with 13 banjos. She's been playing since she
was 12 and is a past Florida champion. She has recorded
five CDs, has written four banjo tab books, and has been published in Banjo
Newsletter, Studio Magazine, and Old Time Herald. Today, Mary plays
concerts, teaches at camps, and records with family and friends. She
enjoys introducing students of all ages to new tunes, techniques, and the banjo life.

A relaxing river ride... on a raft of sweet melodies.
Now days... many folks think of galloping Bluegrass breakdowns when banjo comes to mind. However, Mary Z. Cox through this, and her other efforts (all available at CD Baby), present another side of the instrument. Mellower yet still exciting, she along with her cadre of excellent supporting musicians, take us back to an earlier time... while also being 21st century modern. Invest in Banjo Dreamin' Suwannee Nights, and treat yourself to a relaxing river ride... on a raft of sweet melodies.

As always, Mary Z puts together anoterh clawhammer jewel!
Again, Mary Z has put together another great CD. The mix along with the use of diffent instruments makes a great listening CD. The use of banjo strung with nylon strings produces an old-time sound that creates a musical picture that sounds as if it was recorded 80 years ago. I also purchased the tab from Mary Z directly to learn some of the tunes my self.

Im a novice and I play with a plastic head, a steel pick
clawhammer style, and steel strings.
After hearing Mary's banjo and emotion, Im a gettin'
meself some decent stuff real soon.
