Matinée are an established four piece indie rock band in Italy but they have all now bravely flown their sunny nests to pursue their London rock n’roll dreams.
New single “White Lies” (4th March release) produced by Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, Carl Barat, Glasvegas) is the follow up single to their recognised UK debut “City Lifestyle”.
“White Lies” is a melodic number which leads to a punchy crescendo of soaring guitars / vocals as lead vocalist Luigi sings about the addiction problems of every nature: love, drugs, work and so on. The music video was shot in London at night; with the band featuring throughout in a black & white grainy montage with flashes of colour indicating the dangers of addiction in particular of loves darker side.
The band is named after Scotland’s very own Franz Ferdinand’s hit song; “Matinee” and they are all friends after supporting them in Italy. The UK has embraced our Mediterranean friends with support on their debut from NME, Q-Radio and Scotland’s Jim Gellaty is an official fan.
Matinée were recently up for nomination for “Best International Act” on Amazing Radios Awards show and also played live at the very credible Station Sessions (The Guillemots, Ellen & The Escapades, Ed Sheeran) .So it seems East London's thriving music scene is their new found and happy home. On UK soil the band has played live at many key London venues including Death Disco (Creation Records; Alan McGee’s night) and the 100 Club. Their love of UK music shines through after support slots with Razorlight, Mystery Jets, The Futureheads, The Wombats, Pete and the Pirates and British Sea Power.
The “White Lies” single launch party is a big FREE one with a Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) DJ set and support from up and coming female artists IamCharlii & Genna Marabese at East Londons:
The Shacklewell Arms - Dalston - London on Tuesday 5th March 2013.
Matinées debut album will be released in Autumn 2013
