Souvenirs

Souvenirs was inspired by the variety of traveling I do for my performance career, the other wonderful artists I meet on those trips, and the new art I am lucky to create in collaboration with other performers and composers.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
MATTHEW COLEY has found himself uncovering the secrets to being a kinetic sound artist. With a keen sense for turning movement energy into sound or creative energy, Matthew was not only able to have a professional modern dance career in Chicago, bringing him to perform alongside the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, at the Harris Theatre for Music and Dance, and in an Olympic-sized drained swimming pool, but he has also been successful at entertaining audiences performing on any percussion instrument. As a kinetic sound artist, he has won marimba competitions, published compositions, performed multi-percussion concertos, been featured as a cimbalom and dulcimer artist, and soloed as a glass percussionist.

A super review of SOUVENIRS from T. Adam Blackstock in Percussive Notes!
"If you are in search of a disc with great recording quality, a high level of performance, and an eclectic collection of tracks, this title should be added to your iTunes wish list. Matthew Coley’s Souvenirs delivers 80 minutes of diverse works for solo marimba, marimba and piano duo, and percussion ensemble...I applaud all of the players on their level of performance; it is excellent. With the ease of creating high-quality recordings these days, the programming can make a disc stand out from the masses. Bravo to Coley and his fellow performers for doing just that!"
