Matt Malley is an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated songwriter who is most recognized for co-founding the rock band Counting Crows and appearing on their entire catalog of records as their bassist - from their first and biggest record, "August and Everything After" up to and including their newest release, "Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings". He left the band in 2004 to get off the road, "and not miss my two little boys growing up", he says. "Living in hotels is fun when you're single or not with children but by the time my second boy came along, being an MIA dad really got to be too hard", he continues.
So when Matt retired from the band in December of 2004, he started working on this, his first solo record, from his home studio.
"It has been the most fulfilling thing for me as an artist to have the final say in every aspect of a musical project - from songwriting to tracking...mixing and even the artwork and booklet - I was surprised to see how much attention to detail I had! I realized during this process that this record is really my letter to the world."
