Hello everyone, Matt here to describe my new CD, "Bliss Attack".
The name came from a fan who wrote to me saying that she was driving and listening to my CD "Dance of the Helix" and had to pull over because she was having a "bliss attack". An idea struck me like a ton of bliss...and I started to assemble various songs of mine that are more uplifting and inspiring and place them in an order that allowed them to slowly unfold, taking the listener on a heart-opening, soul-filled and flowing musical journey. I tested them with different people in the world of "bliss-enhancement", who were mainly yoga teachers and other highly sensitive seekers of joy (special thanks to Angie Benton) and the feedback came rolling in. I dropped a few tracks, added some others, shifted the order here and there and continued the "test marketing" until I came up with the final product...Bliss Attack.
A WORD OF WARNING...Once you listen through the entire CD you WILL BE AFFECTED and THERE IS NO CURE.
Bliss Attack contains tracks from my CDs including Hot Planet, Dance Of The Helix, Hangisphere, Songs From The Venus Lounge and Hang Soul as well as some new music and a few new arrangements of the familiar tunes. Even if you own my entire catalog, the way Bliss Attack gently unfolds and continues to open into realms of beauty and wonder will keep you listening over and over again.
I play the extraordinary Hang instrument on most of the tracks and also bring in some of the Electronic Valve Instrument and a diverse array variety of rhythms, beats, sounds and textures. Guest appearances include saxophone legend Stan Getz, guitar guru Eric McFadden, members of the Eastern European music women's choir Kitka, ethereal vocal diva Suzanne Sterling, Qawwali vocalist Riffat Sultana and violinist Colm O'Riain, Several generations of my Venusian bandmates include pedal steel/electric guitarist Robert Powell, Kora master Daniel Berkman, guitarists Richard Michos, Rob Michael and Mike Sugar, keyboardist John Steiner, drummers Celso Alberti and Michael Saint John, bassists Dennis Crosby and Jeff Obee and vocalists Nancy Hall, Naomi True and Leslie Bonnet.
Listen to the samples and download the entire CD or buy a physical copy. It's a small price to pay to be overcome with bliss!
All music composed, recorded and produced by Matt Venuti except "All Well" by Matt Venuti, Daniel Berkman and John Steiner.
