Album Notes
Matt Woods, 21, born in Birmingham and raised in Dothan, Alabama, being the oldest of three has always had musical influence in his life. At and early age of 10, Matt realized his love and talent for music by learning guitar and writing songs in his spare time

As time went on, he became more enthusiastic about his love for music and continuously played. As he grew, so did his music. "One day, I was writing about the simple things in life with a simple rhythm and eventually realized the my words and music were becoming more and more intense."

Playing around at local venues in Dothan eventually escalated to weekly performances in and around Auburn, when he went off to college. This move was also inspiring as he began o have time to grow, and along with him grew his music.

After completing his junior year at Auburn, Matt moved to Nashville to pursue his career in music. "Moving to Nashville was so exhilarating. It was something that I had always dreamed about. It's almost like a reoccurring dream of eleven years was starting to come true."

Matt's move to Nashville has been a positive and encouraging one. Opportunity was knocking on his door. As of now Matt is continuing to write and pursue his career more optimistically than ever. "As long as I remember my first gigs and the spark that inspired me, I know that no matter what, my love for music will be my driving force and take me wherever I need to be."

Best CD I own!
Matt Woods' Something Surreal is without a doubt one of my favorite CD's I own. It is playing non-stop in my CD player. He truly has lots of talent, and every bit of it is shown in this CD.

Wonderfully orchestrated
This CD provided my friends/family and I with a wonderful experience. The CD is very diversified when speaking of the current cultural differences that are prevalent in today’s music, with regard to age. My children and their friends along with mine and my wife’s friends could finally agree upon the choice in music! It reminds me of a mixture of pop and country, and the lyrics are very tasteful. It also proved valuable in the car!

Adult-alternative rock singer/songwriter Matt Woods displays a flair for the dra
Matt Woods "Something Surreal", 2005 Adult-alternative rock singer/songwriter Matt Woods displays a flair for the dramatic on "Something Surreal," an explosive, multi-guitar driven collection that would sound just as intense if he were simply strumming his acoustic to a small circle of friends. Woods' muscular rhythm section inflates his catchy melodies and clever, earnest lyrics into arena rock proportion. If you go no farther than the first three cuts; the John Mayer-ish "Bottle Up Inside," the go-for-broke fervor of "Misconception," and the metal grandeur of "Lyndall" he's already scaled more heights than most Top-40 artists do on one disc. The neo-psychedelic Sus-chord intro to "Hiding" and the pure power pop of "Gone" show Woods' keen capacity to shift gears without losing his identity. Is bigger better? In Woods' case the answer is a definitive yes. © Tom Semioli

Great sound, hidden gem!

This is a wonderful CD... pure poetry. I'm blown away by the lyrics, the music, Matt Woods voice. I can't believe that no one has put this man on mainstream radio! They're almost all "single" worthy.

Simply Amazed!
Wow, Thank God for Pandora!
